Casa Mil Flores and its property borders a primary rainforest reserve. There you can see four species of monkeys, rare birds, and abundant wildlife visit daily. You fall asleep to the sounds of the jungle and wake up 100 meters from the beach.
The two-acre grounds are lush with tropical fruit trees, ornamental flowers, a living fence for privacy, and a working organic farm complete with a greenhouse, free-range chickens, and seasonal vegetables available fresh for your stay.
This solar powered home also has a passive solar design where the concrete bottom floor keeps things naturally cool during the midday heat. The upper level is built entirely from tropical hardwood with polished floors, two open decks for jungle and sunset views, and a spacious master suite that doubles as a yoga room.

Located 150m from the only public bar & restaurant in Matapalo
The location is convenient for a quick meal and there is a local crafts market on Friday from 5-8. During the high season, Friday nights are the community social time. It's fun to mingle with the locals. Please be aware that sometimes music can be heard from my house on a busy Friday night or during special events but music shuts down by 11:30pm. The bar/restaurant is closed September through mid December.
This is a Solar Powered Home and energy consumption is sensitive.
This is a solar run home and when there is cloudy weather or storms power may run low. We do have a generator back up that will be used when the system is low. High energy consumption appliances can not be run here, including hair dryers and clothes dryers. Guests may ask the house keeper to do laundry but may not use those facilities on their own. Hot water is only offered in the downstairs bathroom shower.
Get Food & Supplies in Puerto Jimenez
Due to the remote area, it is recommended that guests buy all of their food, fill their rental car with gas, and get all cash from the ATM for their stay, before coming out from Puerto Jimenez. The road can be a long trip back to town depending on the weather and there are no grocery stores in the Matapalo area.
Surfboards & Gear available as Rentals
We offer a range of high-performance shortboard surfboards and long boards for rent to our guests. All suited to surf the conditions in this area. We also have 2 paddle boards and bikes for rent. Please give notice if you are interested in any of these options so we can have everything ready for your stay.
