Enjoy a stylish experience at this centrally-located home. Surrounded by lush gardens, it is just steps to the Carbonera beach and river , walking distance to the waterfall, and conveniently close to the only bar and restaurant in the area.
Casa Jocote is located in the heart of the Playa Carbonera neighborhood. This property was once an open field. I planted it with fruit trees and ornamentals to attract wildlife and ensure food for the future. It has an edible landscape design with living fences. Because of the lush gardens the home is able to have open air living that feels secluded.

There is a large green house on the property that can be explored to see what is growing during your stay. We have lots of wildlife that pass by the house. It is not uncommon to see 4 kinds of monkeys, all types of birds, pizote, and even wild pigs.

It's Good to Know
Located 150m from the only public bar & restaurant in Matapalo
It is convenient for a quick meal and there is an organic farmers market on friday afternoons. During the high season, Friday nights are the community social time. Its fun to mingle with the locals. Please be aware that sometimes music can be heard from my house on a busy Friday night or during special events but music shuts down by 11:30pm. The bar/restaurant is closed september through mid december.
This is a solar home and energy consumption is sensitive
This is a solar run home and when there is cloudy weather or storms power may run low. We do have a generator back up that will be used when the system is low. High energy consumption appliances can not be run here, including hair dryers and clothes dryers. Guests may ask the house keeper to do laundry but may not use those facilities on their own. Hot water is only offered in the downstairs bathroom shower.
Get food & Supplies in Puerto Jimenez
Due to the remote area, it is recommended that guests buy all of their food, fill their rental car with gas, and get all cash from the ATM for their stay, before coming out from Puerto Jimenez. The road can be a long trip back to town depending on the weather and there are no grocery stores in the Matapalo area.
Surfboards & gear available for rental
We offer a range of high-performance shortboard surfboards and long boards for rent to our guests. All suited to surf the conditions in this area. We also have 2 paddle boards and bikes for rent. Please give notice if you are interested in any of these options so we can have everything ready for your stay.
