Casa Mil Flores is a hidden gem located on the Osa Peninsula in the southern zone of Costa Rica. Located a short walk from the beachfront, the house is close enough to enjoy the sound of the rolling waves on Playa Carbonera. One of the more enjoyable experiences is to fall asleep to the sounds of the rainforest. The property boarders a nature reserve that has primary rainforest, abundant wildlife and plant bio-diversity. As well, Mil Flores is near the Corcovado National Park; one of the most diverse ecosystems on the planet second only to the amazon.
This house is conveniently located in a small neighborhood, close to the rare amenities of the local bar/restaurant, school, and transportation. The one acre property has been strategically landscaped with tropical fruit trees and foliage to add to the privacy of this home. We have expanded the property in 2019 and now have a small scale food farm off the back of the property with an organic greenhouse and our own chickens. We offer fresh greens and seasonal vegetables, plus free range eggs, as an additional add-on for your stay.
Beautifully designed, the house has a passive solar concrete first floor and an all tropical hardwood upper level. The first floor offers a cool relief from the tropical mid-day heat. There is a guest bedroom with a king size bed. This room is perfect for the late morning snooze or afternoon nap. Because the house is open, and to keep things cool and dry, all beds have mosquito nets to keep unwanted visitors away in the evenings.
The lower level of the house also has a living room, a professionally equipped kitchen, a large master bath, and a covered deck area for dining and relaxation. New to this home in 2021 is a deep dipping pool with bench seating. This is perfect to cool you off on a hot tropical day. If you love to cook, you will appreciate the professional gas range, the full size solar powered refrigerator with freezer (a rare find on the osa!), snack bar, inside-outside wood bar and abundant counter space. The water for this entire home is purified with a UV filtration system. In 2019 the internet was upgraded to a point to point system. It has been working really well. Internet is tricky in the entire matapalo area but with this upgrade we hope to offer continuous WiFi to our guests.
The second floor is an expansive open master bedroom constructed of tropical hardwood and a polished wood floor that can double as a yoga room. There is a king size bed with a queen size hide a bed and a sofa bed. There is also a full bath with views of the jungle and mountains. Upstairs has two large decks for animal viewing and evening sunsets over the distant ridge line.

La Casita
La Casita is a custom built home in the center of the Carbonera neighborhood and just outside of the Matapalo neighborhood. It was built as a comfortable guest house that can accommodate up to 5 guests. The main bedroom has a queen size bed, the second bedroom has two single beds and there is a sofa bed in the living room. The kitchen and living room are an open floor plan with WiFi. This home was built for both airflow and security, and has been heavily planted for privacy and wildlife.
The house was designed to be open air during the day and closed down when you go to sleep. There are accordion doors in the living room that opens out to a beautiful hardwood deck and the kitchen has accordion windows that open over a breakfast bar/dining area. There is a built in corner couch on the deck in the dining area that adds for extra social and lounging areas. The bathroom is nicely designed and has a bamboo outdoor shower. Wildlife viewing is abundant from the hammock on the deck.

The Casa del Jardin is a home that is perfect for remote working and comfortable living. This home is situated among manicured gardens and has full afternoon sun with sunset views. The house is very private and secluded, while being situated in the middle of the carbonera neighborhood. It is located within walking distance to the beach, the Carbonera river, the local school and the local restaurant Buena Esperanza (the only bar/restaurant in the area). This is a central location that allows for both surf and beach trips into Matapalo, expeditions to the Corcovado or short visits to Puerto Jimenez.
This house is remodeled from the original property. We made it for ourselves and remodeled it during Covid. You will notice a lot of attention to detail on the inside of this home. The furniture is custom designed. It has a comfortable co-working space with good wifi, a hardwood desk and an ergonomic office chair. The Casa del Jardin can sleep up to 4-5 guests. It has a king size bed in the main bedroom, a single sofa bed in the living area and a queen size fully mosquito netted bed in the indoor/outdoor living area. The kitchen and living room area has an open floor plan. The solar powered home has a fully equipped kitchen and a triple filtration water system. There is a full bathroom and also a nicely designed outdoor shower area. The home has a comfortable outdoor living area with both a hardwood deck and a covered porch.
